The State of Global Learning Poverty
“The State of Global Learning Poverty: 2022 Update”, a new joint publication of the World Bank, UNICEF, FCDO, USAID, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and in partnership with UNESCO, stresses that even before the pandemic, there was already a learning crisis. New data presented in the report confirms that learning poverty was very high just before the pandemic hit. Since then, COVID-19 has sharply increased learning poverty, with COVID-driven school disruptions exacerbating the severe pre-pandemic learning crisis. The new RAPID framework provides a menu of options for countries to use to recover and accelerate learning.

It recognizes that the progressive realization of USP, which ensures access to social protection for all whenever and however they need it, is critical for effectively reducing poverty and boosting shared prosperity.

Education Finance Watch
The Education Finance Watch report shines a light on the state of education financing, so that countries, donors, partners, and communities can take informed action. Since 2021, this collaboration between the World Bank (WB), the Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report team and the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) has tracked trends in education spending, examining how much countries invest in education and how these investments align with their development needs, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, which face the most severe challenges. The EFW uses various sources of education, economic, and financial data from the WB, UIS, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
